Title: God’s Plans for Your Good

Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

There is something deeply comforting about knowing that the God of the universe has individual thoughts toward you. This verse was originally spoken to the people of Israel during a difficult season of exile in Babylon. They were far from home, feeling forgotten, and wondering if God had abandoned them. But through the prophet Jeremiah, God spoke these words to assure them that even in their darkest hour, He had not forgotten them.

The word “expected” in this verse speaks of hope and anticipation. God was telling His people that He had a future planned for them—a future filled with hope, not harm. The promised end was not destruction but restoration.

You may find yourself in a season where things feel uncertain. Perhaps you are facing a difficult situation at work, a strained relationship, or an unknown path ahead. This verse reminds you that God sees you in the midst of it all. His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, not confusion or calamity.

A Practical Way to Live This Out

When worry creeps in, take a moment to pause and speak this verse aloud. Write it on a note card and place it where you will see it daily. When plans seem to fall apart or circumstances feel overwhelming, remind yourself that God’s blueprint for your life is greater than what you can see right now. Trust Him to work all things together for your good, even the detours.

A Brief Story

Margaret had worked for years toward a promotion at her company. She had sacrificed time with family, stayed late nights, and built her reputation carefully. When the position went to someone else, she felt crushed. She questioned whether all her hard work had meant anything. In her discouragement, she remembered Jeremiah 29:11 and began to pray, asking God to show her what He had planned. Weeks later, a former colleague reached out about an opportunity in a different city—one that offered not just better pay but also a chance to be closer to aging parents she had been missing. What felt like a closed door was actually God redirecting her toward something better. She learned that God’s peace often comes not from getting what we want, but from trusting that He has something greater in mind.

Trust today that God’s plans for you are good. His thoughts toward you are filled with hope.
