Title: God’s Plans Are Bigger Than Yours
Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV): “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
When the Prophet Jeremiah wrote these words, the people of Judah were in exile in Babylon. They had lost their homeland, their temple, and their sense of purpose. It must have felt like their story was over. Yet God, through Jeremiah, was telling them something revolutionary: He had not forgotten them. He had not abandoned them. In fact, He had a plan—a plan for their welfare, not their destruction, leading to a hopeful future.
This verse reminds us that God’s perspective far exceeds our own. When we face setbacks, disappointments, or seasons of confusion, we often assume the worst. We wonder if God has left us or if our dreams have been shattered beyond repair. But Scripture tells us otherwise. God’s thoughts toward His children are thoughts of peace, not evil. He sees the end from the beginning, and He is working all things together for our good, even when we cannot see it.
One practical way to implement this verse today is to pause each morning and surrender your plans to God. Before you check your phone, before you rush into your to-do list, take a moment to say something like: “Lord, I don’t know what today holds, but I trust that You have good plans for me. Help me to lean on You rather than my own understanding.” This simple habit trains your heart to release control and rest in God’s faithfulness.
Consider Sarah, a woman who lost her job unexpectedly during a difficult season. At first, she felt defeated and wondered if God had forgotten her. But instead of spiraling into despair, she began each day by praying Jeremiah 29:11 back to God, asking Him to redirect her steps. Within months, she found a new opportunity that aligned better with her gifts—one she never would have pursued had she stayed in her old role. What felt like an ending was truly a redirecting toward something better.
God’s promises remind us that we are never outside of His care. Whatever you are facing today, trust that He is near, that He has not forgotten you, and that He is quietly working toward a hopeful tomorrow.
