Title: God Has Good Plans for You
Jeremiah 29:11 in the King James Version reads: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
This verse carries one of the most comforting promises in all of Scripture. The Lord is speaking to His people who found themselves in exile in Babylon, far from home and facing uncertain futures. In that difficult season, God revealed that He had not forgotten them. He had not abandoned them to chaos or coincidence. Instead, He had a deliberate, purposeful plan for their lives—one designed to bring them peace and a hopeful future.
The word “expected” in this verse speaks of something awaited with confidence. God was not promising His people a life free from trials, but He was assuring them that their struggles were not the end of the story. His intentions toward them were good, even when their circumstances felt anything but good.
This promise extends to us today. When we feel lost, confused, or overwhelmed by life’s challenges, we can take comfort in knowing that our Heavenly Father has a plan for us. His thoughts toward us are filled with hope, not harm.
To implement this verse in daily life, begin each morning by reminding yourself that God is at work even when you cannot see it. When worries arise, pause and speak this promise aloud: “God has good plans for me.” Then take one practical step forward, trusting that He is guiding your steps. Whether it is a conversation you have been avoiding, a task you have been postponing, or a decision that feels unclear, move forward in faith, knowing that your future is secure in His hands.
Consider Sarah, a single mother working two jobs to provide for her children. There were nights she lay awake wondering how she would make ends meet. But she clung to this promise and made it her habit to pray each morning, asking God to guide her day. Over time, opportunities opened that she never expected—a promotion, a scholarship for her oldest child, and a supportive community that became like family. Looking back, she could see how God had been weaving her struggles into something beautiful all along.
Trust the Lord with your today and your tomorrow. His plans for you are good.
