Title: Good Plans for Your Tomorrow

Jeremiah 29:11 in the King James Version reads: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

This verse carries one of the most beautiful promises in all of Scripture. God is speaking directly to His people through the prophet Jeremiah, and He wants them to understand something crucial: even when life feels uncertain, confusing, or even painful, His intentions toward them are fundamentally good. The word “thoughts” here speaks of God’s deliberate, purposeful planning. He is not randomly winding the universe like a careless clockmaker. He is actively thinking about each of us, crafting a story that leads to peace and wholeness.

The phrase “an expected end” is particularly hopeful. It suggests a destination—a purposeful conclusion that we can look forward to and trust in. This wasn’t just wishful thinking; it was God’s promise that His people would eventually return from exile and find restoration.

Here’s a simple way to apply this verse today: when you wake up tomorrow, before you check your phone or worry about the day’s responsibilities, take a moment to remind yourself that God has good plans for your life. Write down one thing you are grateful for and one thing you are looking forward to. This small practice trains your heart to recognize God’s goodness even in ordinary moments. It shifts your focus from fear of the unknown to trust in a loving Father who already knows your path.

Consider Mary, a woman I know who faced an unexpected job loss last year. At first, she felt defeated and anxious about her future. But she remembered this promise and began to pray each morning, asking God to show her the good He was working on. Within months, she found a position that aligned perfectly with her gifts—one she never would have discovered had she not been forced to look in a new direction. Her “expected end” turned out to be far better than she could have planned for herself.

Trust that God is thinking of you today with peace in His heart.
