The Faith That Moves Mountains – March 10, 2026

Today’s verse comes from Matthew 17:20, and it says, “For verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”

This verse is a powerful reminder that our faith can accomplish incredible things. Jesus is using hyperbole here to emphasize the vast potential that faith has. Even something as tiny as a grain of mustard seed represents a small amount of faith, but Jesus teaches us that even such a small faith can move mountains if it is placed in Him.

In practical terms, this means believing deeply in God’s power and His promises. When faced with challenges or obstacles, instead of focusing on how daunting they seem, we should trust in God’s strength and ability to overcome them. This doesn’t mean we should ignore our responsibilities; rather, it means we should act with confidence in God’s provision and strength.

To implement this in daily life, consider a small step towards a big goal each day. For example, if you’re struggling with a project at work, pray for God’s guidance and then take one actionable step forward, trusting that He will make the next move easier. Over time, these small steps, fueled by faith, can lead to significant progress.

There’s a real-life story of a young man who used this verse to overcome incredible odds. Despite a lack of formal education and facing numerous setbacks, he believed that with God’s help, he could achieve his dream of becoming an engineer. Each morning, he would read this verse and remind himself that small steps taken with faith could lead to great accomplishments. He started by working odd jobs and saving money, always believing that he would eventually go to college. After years of hard work and persistence, he was accepted into an engineering program. This man’s story is a testament to the truth in Matthew 17:20—through faith, even the smallest beginnings can lead to great achievements.
