The Promise of Abundant Life – January 30, 2026

Let’s dive into John 10:10 today, where Jesus said, “The thief does not come, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

This verse speaks volumes about the purpose of Jesus’ life and His mission on earth. He came not to take away life, but to give it — life in all its fullness, vitality, and joy. When we think of an abundant life, it often goes beyond just physical health and includes emotional well-being, spiritual fulfillment, and a sense of purpose.

Practically, implementing this verse in our daily lives can mean focusing on practices that enhance each aspect of our being. For example, spending time in nature, reading God’s Word, engaging in acts of kindness, and nurturing relationships can contribute to a richer life experience.

Consider the story of Corrie ten Boom. After surviving the Holocaust, she could have easily succumbed to bitterness and depression. Instead, she chose to fill her days with acts of love and service as a member of the Dutch underground during World War II, and later as a motivational speaker and author post-war. Her life, marked by forgiveness and a commitment to spreading the love of Christ, is a testament to living an abundant life despite immense challenges.

Embrace the promise of abundant life today by choosing actions today that reflect Jesus’ purpose to enrich your life and the lives of others.
